The new 2018 Hyundai Santro has finally been launched in India and the car retains its tallboy design, which it was famously known for

We’ve all known the Hyundai Santro as a name that’s had a lot of history riding on it over the last the 16 years

It's curvier than its predecessor and looks more upmarket too, and comes with well-placed accent lines that accentuate the overall design

The 'Z' shaped strokes on the side of the car add to the overall look

Up front, it gets the cascading grille as also sweptback headlamps

The headlamps are halogen though, and there are no projectors or LED daytime running lights on offer

The new Santro is available only with a set of 14-inch steel wheels with wheel covers and there are no alloy wheels on offer, even on the top-of-the-line Asta trim

The new car stands true to its ‘tall-boy’ design, and sits on 165/70R 14 steel wheels with a stylish wheel cap design

Also, it is 45mm longer than the old Santro with an overall length of 3610mm.

The 2018 Hyundai Santro variants are as follows: D-Lite, Era, Magna, Sportz and Asta

The cabin of the 2018 Hyundai Santro boasts of improved space and also makes good use of materials

The dual beige and black themed interior looks pleasant that extend to the seats as well, while the tallboy design makes for ample of headroom too

It comes equipped with features such as a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a reverse camera, rear AC vents, and steering-mounted audio controls

Safety features include a rear parking camera, driver and passenger airbag, front seatbelt pretensioners, and ABS with EBD.

Safety tech on the top-end variant includes dual airbags, and ABS with EBD

The new Hyundai Santro is powered by a 1.1-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine that makes 68bhp and 99Nm of torque, with a new 5-speed manual transmission

However, making its debut for the first time, is the in-house produced Smart Auto AMT gearbox that will solely be offered only on the Magna and Sportz variants

The 2018 Hyundai Santro’s ARAI-certified fuel-economy figures are rated at 20.3kpl for the petrol MT and AMT models, while the CNG variant is the most frugal at 30.48km/kg.
