The Maruti Suzuki Baleno is a blockbuster for the company! At the very outset let me say that the statement has a caveat.

The Maruti Baleno is one of the most popular hatchbacks in the country.

There are too many great things about the most premium hatchback from Maruti Suzuki.

Right from its interior to some segment-leading specifications and mileage, the Baleno car features great equipment level and other hardware.

When seen analytically, by someone who has a knack for good designs, the Baleno passes the litmus test with flying colours.

Its exterior looks very sophisticated, while the pulled-back headlamps and the large angular grille gives it the signature Suzuki look.

The highlight of the front-end has to be the stylish headlamps that are somewhat similar in design to the Maruti Swift.

These units carry a Bi-Xenon setup each, which means you get clear illumination in the dark.

In the side profile, the Baleno car features stylish alloy wheels in a grey finish

The sports variant also gets a very sporty body kit that enhances the overall appeal of the exterior.

At the rear, the car receives LED tail lamps, a rear wash wipe, and a roof spoiler.

The quality of plastics on the inside of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno is good.

Nevertheless, it still feels built to last and panel gaps are well-hidden. 

The infotainment system is well within reach and easy to operate

The Baleno's front seats are wide enough for comfort while the rear can seat three abreast with ease.

The legroom and knee room for the passengers at the back is, perhaps, the best-in-class.

The Maruti Suzuki Baleno new model is in line with all the latest features offered in this segment of cars.

It comes with projector headlights, Daytime Running Lamps, 16-inch alloy wheels and a reverse camera with parking sensors.

In terms of comfort, it gets height-adjustable driver seat, tilt and telescopic adjustment for the steering wheel, auto-dimming IRVM, automatic climate control and more.

The Baleno gets a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Bluetooth, AUX, USB, Navigation,it also features Apple CarPlay and Android Auto

In terms of safety, the Baleno gets 2 airbags, ABS and EBD as standard across all variants.

Maruti Suzuki's decision to axe all the diesel-powered cars come BS-VI era has also affected the Baleno.

Earlier available with the tried-and-tested 1.3-litre Fiat-sourced diesel, now the Maruti Suzuki Baleno is just available with petrol engines

The entry-level engine is the company's 1.2-litre K12 four-cylinder motor, good for 83bhp and 115Nm of torque.

It comes mated to either a 5-speed manual or a CVT automatic gearbox

Then there's a new Dualjet engine, which, is also 1.2-litre in capacity, but it churns out more power at 89bhp

The torque output for the Dualjet engine is almost identical, at 113Nm.

The Dualjet 1.2-litre engine also comes paired to the company's SHVS technology

It only comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox.

The diesel version of the Baleno delivers a mileage of 27.39 kmpl, which makes it one of the most fuel-efficient cars on sale in the entire country.

Even the petrol version isn’t far behind and offers 21.4 kmpl.

It is not as good as the diesel version but is still better than all other petrol-powered cars in this segment

In spite of having great power figures, it delivers 21.1 kmpl, which is only slightly lesser than what the base petrol engine offers.
