Ignis
The Maruti Ignis is the smallest crossover in the company’s stable.
With the Ignis, Maruti's aim is to cater to a younger car-buying populace
And with its unconventional, almost kei-car like styling, it's bound to appeal to a certain audience.
The Maruti Ignis features a tasty retro design, which takes inspiration from several JDM-spec Suzuki models of the yore
While it looks like a hatchback on stilts, which is mainly due to its small dimensions, the boxy silhouette and the high ground clearance gives its a typical crossover appeal.
At its front-end, it features stylish projector headlamps along with U-shaped LED DRLs.
The radiator grille has a honeycomb structure and is adorned with chrome garnish
The front also features a chunky bumper with a large air-dam and round foglamps on the top-end variant
The side profile features a short wheelbase, small DLO, plastic cladding on the A- and B-pillar, three scoops on the C-pillar, and stylish alloy wheels.
The rear features a chunky bumper with black plastic cladding, an angular hood design, and a rear wash wipe.
The Maruti Suzuki Ignis variants are as follows: the 1.2-litre petrol engine is offered on the base
Sigma 1.2 MT, followed by the Delta 1.2 MT, the Zeta 1.2 MT and the Alpha 1.2 MT,while variants for the petrol automatic include the Delta 1.2, Zeta 1.2 and Alpha 1.2.
It also comes with USB, Aux-in and Bluetooth connectivity, while you can also have access to the system via a phone app.
Moreover, it also consists of rear camera display and navigation.
The Maruti Ignis is small on the outside but is quite spacious on the inside, There is enough space on offer, both at the front and the rear.
The legroom is better than what many similarly priced hatchbacks offer while the shoulder room is also on the higher side.
The crossover design leads to sufficient headroom for all passengers
The reason behind the spacious interior in spite of an overall length of just 3,700 mm is the really short overhang at the front and the rear.
The dashboard of the crossover is home to the company’s popular Smartplay infotainment unit, which offers Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
It also has voice recognition and display for the reverse camera.
Also, the crossover has a multi-function steering wheel, while the dashboard gets a clever storage space just above the glove compartment
The car also offers features like automatic climate control, central locking with remote, keyless entry, and push-button start.
The Maruti Suzuki Ignis is powered a 1.2-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine that makes 80bhp and 113Nm of torque
The engine is paired to a 5-speed manual transmission, with the option of an AMT available as well.
The Ignis is capable of sprinting to 100 kmph from zero in less than 14 seconds and can hit a top speed of roughly 170 kmph
Among the biggest highlight of the Ignis features include the best-in-segment fuel efficiency.
The Maruti Ignis offers a commendable mileage of 20.89 kmpl, which is more than what many cheaper and less powerful cars deliver
In an urban environment, you can safely expect this model to deliver a mileage of 16 kmpl, while on the highway it can offer up to 20 kmpl
